| Overview: It's time to get busy! I've made several of these
samplers, each one different, but I love these patterns so much I
will be making another quilt right along with you. The block sizes
are 4.5" and 9". They go together beautifully in a sampler format.
We will start with the easiest block and then ease on down the road
to more difficult patterns. Let's get started, first your fabric:
Fabric: For your sampler, you need to come up with a fabric theme. Pick out a main fabric or focus fabric that you can put to work. A focus fabric is a print that dictates the color choices used in the quilt. Pick a fabric that has many different color combinations in it. Typically focus fabrics are large scale prints. Once you have decided on a focus fabric then you must become a fabric detective and pick several fabrics that represent all of the colors in the print, whether you like them or not. Carefully check the fabric out, you might be surprised at the hidden colors within the print. Some of the colors represented might not be your favorite, but use them (no cheating!). It is through the process of using fabric, out of your range of comfort that you will become familiar using all color. So
