Title:
"Rail Fence with Stars" |
|
Once resistant
to using plaids, I now find plaid quilts completely charming. This pattern
is based on the star plaid quilt you can see on the quilting frame my
father made for me in many of the Simply Quilts episodes. It measures
42 1/2" x 48 1/2". This pattern is also in my appliqué book.

Title:
"Rose Sampler" |
|
I love
my rose garden. With it in mind this quilt came together with little
thought. Upon completion I realized it looked like it came straight
from Mexico. It hangs in my studio much of the time. It measures 54
1/2"x 54 1/2". I must admit that this quilt is not for beginners, but
I loved it so much it needed to be included in my appliqué book.

Title:
"Cherries" |
|
The great
40's reproduction fabric used for the border dictated the color for
this quilt. Several different greens and reds were used to create the
look of actual cherries and leaves. The feeling of this quilt reminds
me of hot summer days gone by. It measures 45"x45". This pattern is
in my appliqué book.

Title:
"Baskets" |
|
This wall-hanging
was inspired by Jennifer Sampous border fabric. The colors were terrific
to work with, so many delicious colors to explore. This quilt pattern
is in Fabric Shopping with Alex Anderson ...as if we need help fabric
shopping.... LOL!

Title:
"Postage Stamp" |
|
This quilt
was designed after the US Postal stamp issued in 1978. Each little 4
1/2" block celebrates my love of FABRIC! The pattern for this basket
is available for you on this site in the basket pattern section. Enjoy!

Title:
"Hearts" |
|
This little
heart quilt was a lot of fun to make and really quite easy. The top
half of the heart is appliquéd' and the bottom half is pieced.
Each little heart only requires 2 squares of 8" fabric. Perfect for
any fabric exchange! (The pattern for this quilt is in Fabric Shopping
with Alex Anderson)

Title:
"Maple Leaf" |
|
To think
I was once afraid of fall colors! It was so much fun finding the border
fabric and then using all the delicious colors represented in it. This
too is another easy block that is simply set on point. Notice how the
leaves are rotated in all different directions to give the feeling of
a blustery autumn day (this pattern is from my first book, Quilts for
Fabric Lovers).

Title:
"Blue Baskets" |
|
This quilt
has a variety of basket blocks ranging in all levels of difficulty.
It is simply a blue monochromatic color scheme and the blocks are 4
½" and 9 " finished size. It was a lot of fun to make. If this
quilt intrigues you, check out the 'basket of the month' pages and we
can make another basket sampler together!

Title:
"Colorful Baskets" |
|
Here is
another basket quilt of mine, and you thought I only loved stars! These
are the basket blocks that we will specifically be making through the
block of the month club. The fabric was based on Jennifer Sampou's Red
Sea fabric collection (I love her fabric) and it produced a pretty happy
quilt.

Title:
"Tawanda" |
|
I had been
collecting fruit fabric for some time and this quilt was created from
that collection. When it came time to piece the blocks I narrowed down
the fabric to fruit fabric that you could find on my grandpa's farm
in Door County, Wisc. The name Tawanda? Remember the lady in Fried Green
Tomatoes? This quilt almost went over the edge!

Title:
"USA" |
|
This eagle
was started in Charlotte Andersen’s class at Asilomar. Not knowing how
to finish the quilt the eagle rested for a while. Then one day the inspiration
came…."Made in America" and then quilt was completed. This
quilt measures 60"x80". It took 45 days to hand quilt. No kidding!

Title:
"Bear West" |
|
This quilt was created for a contest held by the California Quilt Project
in Calif. After the quilt was completed, I read the entry form, "depicting
how you and your family came to California" (Uh oh! better read the
instructions next time!).

Title:
"Yellow Rose" |
|
This quilt
was inspired by a poem entitled Mud.
Mud
is very nice to feel
All squishy-squash between the toes!
I’d rather wade in wiggly mud
Than smell a yellow rose.
Nobody else but the rose bush knows
How nice mud feels
Between the toes
By Polly Chase Boyden
