I am often asked which is my favorite quilt show in the United States. I have found that each national show has it’s own flavor, style and benefits. From the one day outdoor Quilt Show in Sisters Or (Second Sat. of July) http://www.stitchinpost.com/soqs.html to the various HUGE International venues, I have found them ALL exciting and inspiring. Not only are the quilts a delight to the eye and classes by top notch teachers inspiring, but the incredible shopping seems to also be a huge draw. So many quilts, fabrics, patterns and so little time. A true quilters plight.
There is also nothing like the local quilt guild show. Here quilters gather their work as a group and lovingly display for the locals to enjoy. Speaking for my guild, Amador Valley Quilters www.amadorvalleyquilters.org, the effort and joy which goes into the planning and production of our show is a group effort of very dedicated people. I often wonder in amazement, just how many quilts are being made in our area on a daily basis, because at every show it is filled with just better and better quilts!
Please take advantage of the quilt happenings calendar on the main page. DO let everyone know what is going on in your area and which shows you plan to attend, so we can connect and gather as a group.
I always so inspired and recharged whenever I attend a quilt event. We are VERY fortunate to live in a country where quilting is a beloved “sport”, so take advantage of all there is to offer, or possibly think about treating yourself to a special quilt adventure. You will be so pleased you did!
